Apt Getting Disabled

This thread will be used for troubleshooting the 'Apt gets disabled' problem, which I am now actively working on (though a vacation
will interrupt soon).

I think I have the solution for the 'disabling after a power off' at this point, *please do not post about that here*.

I have uploaded a modified diagnostic tool to help find *other* sources of disabling:

To use:

- install
- when Apt disables, run squeak, select Menu->Show Apt Status, and post here the values that appear.

Again: *please do not post at this time about disabling after power off*, that will be fixed for next release I hope.

Edit: most useful would be if you can identify a sequence of actions that regularly leads to a disabling.

Hey Pent,

I had Apt disable after the hotsync that installed Squeak, still connected to my PC via USB only.

The values from Squeak are as follows:

Menu through AppL: 0
De(q/g?): 'box char' 3
Prefs: 1
Power: 1
Lock: 1

After getting Apt to re-enable itself (turning off, waiting for REM to end, then turning back on) and re-launching Squeak, the
values are exactly the same.

Rats I linked against Apt 1.3 when I built this squeak, I'm thinking some of those values must be wrong, will repost squeak.

Heheh, that made a slight difference.

Disabled: all 0 except Deg 3, Prefs 1, Power 1, Lock 0.
Enabled: all 0 except Deg 3, Prefs 1, Power 0, Lock 0.

Same scenario as before.

Well that's mysterious, in theory that combination is impossible :-)

Could you do me a favour and also see whether PalmInternals lists Apt as being registered for 'hede' notify ?

While disabled, yes, it still is registered for hede:

Just had Apt disable as I was using DateBk6. Ran squeak with the following:

Menu: 0
Macro: 0
Trig: 0
StepNo: 0
NoSteps: 0
WTicks: 0
AppL: 0
Deg: 0
Prefs: 1
Power: 1
Lock: 0

None of the checkboxes had checks either.

Palminternals shows that Apt was no longer registered for 'hede.'

Another interesting one :-)

I presume you hadn't launched an accessorized app and the device had not been display-blanked (screen off) immediately before ?

Hadn't launched any accessorized app. The screen wasn't off immediately before … I had been using the device for several minutes before I tried to use an Apt trigger. It is possible that Apt was disabled from the moment I turned on the device and I just didn't notice it for a while.

Just had two cases of Apt Disabling Itself, in rapid succession, one after using RoadLingua, one after using TomeRaider. Ran squeak and I get the following Apt states
Menu 0
Macro 0
Trig: 374934
Step No: 1430539592
NoSteps: 1364096883
Wticks:0
AppL: 375124
Deq: 0 Power 0
prefs0 Lock 0

And for another instance:
Menu 0
Macro 0
Trig: 439894
Step No: 1400129650
NoSteps: 1098270575
Wticks:0
AppL: 439913
Deq: 0 Power 0
prefs0 Lock 1

Assuming you used the latest squeak (from after 1.3b1 was released) I'm pretty puzzled. The values look like data corruption.
Do you have any particular triggers in either of those apps BTW ?

Just got Apt to disable again. Here is the exact sequence.
I have my hard button 3, long press, assigned to DBLP launcher. My device was off. I pressed HB3, which turned the device on and brought up the DBLP menu. THe first item on the menu was RoadLingua. I entered RoadLingua application and, voila, — APT was disabled.

Here is the squeak:

Menu 0
Macro 0
Trig: 0
Step No: 0
NoSteps: 0
Wticks:0
AppL: 0
Deq: 0 Power 1
prefs1 Lock 0
