First off, I am so impressed with the depth of this program. Thanks very much for such a powerful tool.

My problem is that I need to trigger a NAV down button press in Repligo on a Tungsten E2. From reading books for quite awhile, the down button is very very touchy.

I've tried assigning a button press to the NAV control, and although a little notice at the bottom of the screen shows NAV Down (or similar, not sure), the page does not scroll down. I've been successful with the same settings in other apps.

I've also tried setting a graffiti tap to trigger the NAV Down, but again, the screen does not scroll. Also again, other apps work properly with this setting.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that Repligo is just weird, but perhaps I've missed something and someone else can help.

If I read you correctly, I think you missed the Nav / Down action in Apt, which should do just what you want, and Repligo shouldn't be able to see the difference…

It gets confusing because Nav Down can be a trigger (something that you program to happen in Apt when that button is pressed) and it can be an action (whereby Apt simulates that button press for other apps).

What you want is something like this:

Target: Repligo
in Apt—>Buttons Screen:

(0) Hrd4 / Nav / Down

Ah, I suppose I had my terminology mixed up there. I do indeed want the NAV down action to come from a button press or graffiti tap. I have been successful with either method in other apps *besides* Repligo. In repligo, the exact same setup as you mention above doesn't seem to work. That's why I'm hoping that someone else has had success and can help. I'd have to assume that Repligo doesn't handle the NAV controls in the normal, accepted way.

#1 it could be that you need to check the settings within Repligo itself. It could be that Repligo tries to handle the scroll-down- the-screen function itself.

What Pgr pointed out was that you can assign a diff key press, besides NavDown to achieve what you want, assuming that the issue isn't that Repligo is trying to handle this. Pgr was trying to show you that you could assign a press of Hrd button 4 to Nav(igate) Down. You could also assign a press 'n hold for 1,2, or 3 seconds of that hardware button, or any other…

BTW, what device are you using? I am now using a Centro & find that setting Apt to Very High priority can help ensure Apt's instructions are sent thru.

Good luck, technical1 (I just checked, Repligo 2.1.4 allows you to just press Nav Down to scroll down, no need to waste an Apt assignment…..

The settings in Repligo (all 3 of them) are of no help. I have updated to the most recent version too, but no change.

I am trying to assign the NAV down function to another button because the down button on my E2 is very worn out, and often results in a left or right press instead. I tried setting Apt to very high priority on your advice, to no better result.

So, as I said, other apps work just fine with the settings Pgr suggested, but not in Repligo. If it is Repligo handling the page down function itself, is there a way for Apt to trigger that?

These are the ways to "touch" apps, in order of preference:

1- Nav and Hard actions to simulate button presses directly
2- Pen / Cbar to simulate command-stroke menu shortcuts. These work great, if the app has what you want available as a command.
3- Pen / Tap to simulate screen strokes, by coordinates
4- Ctrl actions to act on the screen "controls" as objects, by Id

From what you say, it seems you already tried 1 and 3… and 4? How about 2?

To add to what Pgr wrote (thanks Pgr).

Some programs test directly the actual hardware status of the keys rather than checking for a virtual character being generated.

If Repligo is one of these, a nav key can't be simulated for it unfortunately, leaving only the other options Pgr mentioned.
