.cfg files are continually written to while an app is running; so any interruption results in corruption and losing access to the file, particularly if the app is on an SD card (e.g. TomTom GPS software is a particularly bad offender for this).
Is it possible to set up an Apt macro to overwrite a corrupt .cfg file with a known good reference copy at the push of a button?

Is there any more work being done on Apt? The last we heard, Jerome Ibanes had taken the project over and there was a lot of activity on these message boards, but after months of waiting for a version update, the excitement has all but faded out completely. Does anybody know what's going on with this? I know that PalmOS is pretty much extinct, but Apt gives my Treo more functionality than I could hope for and the potential for improving it further is great. Let's hear some other users thoughts and opinions on this, eh?

I was struggling with this for a while until I gave up on it about a week ago. If I could get some assistance, it would be much appreciated.

Goal: I use the Treo side button to trigger a star menu (tag="SIDE") that basically acts as my pop-up launcher. In order to have the side button bypass the keyguard (I use KeyGuardTime+), I have created an if/else kind of situation:

*Default*
Side / Apt / Call / (CNTR)

*Tags 1* - Tab "One"
[a>0] (CNTR) / Tag / Apt / Var0 / a
& / Nav / Cntr /
& / Apt / Call / CNTR

*Tags 1* - Tab "Three"
[a=0] (CNTR) / Tag / Apt / Call / (SIDE)

Ok, so this setup works GREAT, except for one small problem. When I push the side button just after I wake the device up, the keyguard is cleared, but I then get a SECOND cntr button press just before my "SIDE" star menu pops up. For example, if I am in the Contacts application when I wake the device up, and push the side button, the keyguard is cleared, then the second cntr button press calls whichever contact is highlighted, and then my star menu appears.

I know that this probably sounds confusing, because it confuses the hell out of me. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything or if you have any idea of why that second cntr button press is occuring. Thanks in advance!

Either I am doing something wrong or the following "may" be a bug.

Goal: create a multiple item pop-up menu when a hard button 4 is pressed

Create the Tag:

*Tag 1*
hb4/Tag/App/Web
>/App/Email
>/App/ChronMemo
>/App/Note Pad

Create the Button:

0/Hrd4/Apt/Call/hb4

the assignment works, but the icons for the Apps are shifted one down.
Web ~ no icon
Email ~ Web icon
ChronMemo ~ Email icon
Note Pad ~ ChronMemo icon

Interesting if I use the same Tag within a (*) star menu the icons line up.

Rick

Hello forum!

IMHO on the Garnet VM apt would be particularly useful. There are no palm hard buttons on the NIT, and by using apt they could be emulated. Sadly, enabling apt freezes the GVM. Only statusbar taps are still recognized, any other event (nav press, cntr button press, screen tap) has no effect.

Are there any efforts getting apt to run on gvm?

Regards

Carsten

I've managed to figure out how get the hard buttons to launch apps when pressed, and when held, along with having it trigger the launcher when a card it inserted. What I'm trying to tackle now seems a bit more difficult: I currently use TAKEphONE, and allowed it to map itself to the phone button (hard 1, I believe), and use apt to call up the Treo's default contacts when the same phone button is held down for a second. The rub is that I'd like to suspend both of these functions (as well as the other press-and-hold options apt currently runs) when I'm in a game that wants to remap the hard buttons for something else. Is there a way to choose a game, and then have apt "wipeout" the hard button's default uses within that game? I get the impression it's built for just that sort of thing, yet can't manage to figure out how. Any ideas?

I'm using a TX and lately I've went back to using the default launcher, one of the features I miss is that with zlauncher, pressing the home hard button within zlauncher will cycle through the different tabs, is it possible to configure the same functionality within the TX's favorite's launcher?

I've tried hooking the home hardbutton to the right nav key, which works just fine until you get to the last category, it won't cycle back to the first category. Using the apt menu I already got the list of controls for the four categories.

1: 6003
2. 6004
3. 6005
4: 6006

So is there a way to cycle through all 4 ctrls using only one button by pressing it repeatedly, and not press and hold for x seconds?
