Lunch+ and DIA setting

Hi,

I have found a new or old bug ;)
In the default settings under pref I have set, that the DIA should be down and only the Statusbar is visable:
DIA: not checked
STBar: checked
So far so good.

If I now have a program where I want to have the DIA. I set for this program in pref
DIA: checked
STBar: checked
so far so good

Now I additionaly add an action for the Luch+ in events (for the program only or in default this doesn' matter, For my research its was for the program A5)

Now there are 2 different things which can happen:
1st: The DIA comes up in the program (A5) but the lunch+ macro is NOT executed
2nd: The DIA comes up, the lunch+ macro is executed, the DIA goes down.

Both are wrong in my eyes. And also its somehow random, when what happens. Its nearly 50/50

Im new at this but finding it v. interesting. I dont usually leave blue tooth on - I have a treo 680 and it kills the battery!
I do however, need it when using navigator TomTom. When the Navigator starts it asks if I want to turn on bluetooth each time. I was thinking it would be cool if when you start Navigator, Apt could make blue tooth start before going to the Navigator therefore negating the need for it to ask if I want to turn blue tooth on.

does this make sense? I hope so. Is it possible to do this?

Problem with using Hard button #1 with Treo 680

I use Buter by Hobbist software to control my button's basic functions (i.e., simple button presses, no press-and-hold settings). This saves me valuable room in Apt. However, I use Apt to set press-and-hold actions for 1, 2, and 3 seconds for all of the 4 hardkeys. It seems I've encountered a bug with the Hard1 button. When I press-and-hold hard1 for 1, 2, or 3 seconds, instead of preforming the expect action per Apt's preferences, the device simply shuts off. I can only stop this if I also use Apt to assign an action to hard1 simply being pressed (i.e., 0 seconds). Is this by design, or a bug?

Simulate card insert to compensate SDHC driver bug ?

Is it possible to simulate card insert in Apt ? It would solve the SDHC driver bug, which Dmitry has no wish or time to correct (http://www.1src.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1057744&postcount=1989) : after reset, some Adata and Transcend cards have to be deinserted then reinserted for the Palm to see them. Apt doing this automatically would allow to use the device right after reset and save the card slot mechanism.

Trigger for nav to: Beginning / End of Line possible

I did find X (trigger button) Field Begin / End, but that goes thru the whole field & not the line only…

I want to be able to have my cursor in the middle of a line & be able to go back or fwd to the beginning or end of the line…

I'm thinking that there is some sort of ascii code that we might be able to pass thru some Apt trigger so I can use 2NavUp whatever & go to beg. of line & 2NavDn whatever to go to end of line….

If not currently possible, Pent, could you please consider putting it in if it is one of those quicky things? It would probably help you as well….

Turn Display off

Hi,

I know I can use APT to dim the screen. But is there a way to turn the screen off? Only the screen not the device. Main reason is, that I have a network connection and this should be alive until I disconnect (eg. IM). Now it would be good, to turn off the screen completly.
I think this should be possible, other programs like pTunes can also do this.

Use a hard key to simulate power on

I would like to use one of my hard keys to simulate a power button. For that key, I would like the following to happen:
1. When the device is off, pressing that assigned hard key just wakes up the device, but does nothing else.
2. When the device is on, that hard key acts according to its regular assignments.

Is this possible to do with Apt?

Launchable DB's

do you think that you could dedicate some time to this part of the to-do list?

action 'DLnch' (or whatever), list data files with launchable attribute in UI, action is to launch the parent app with sysAppLaunchCmdOpenNamedDB and the data file name.

Well, even if the answer is no, I would be happy if you could correct a related problem: when I use ScreenButton to launch DB's, and I do that a lot, Apt doesn't even realize that the parent app launches, so I get situations where I'm inside eReader, for example, but Apt still thinks I'm in ScreenButton.

This happens every time, regardless of the launching app (default launcher or ScrBtn), and regardless of the destination app.

I hope it's a quick fix… :-)

Disable auto-off when in cradle

Brigthness scheduling

Using 1.3 Apt B2, I tried to replace PowerMan with Apt on my TX
That is I tried to schedule different brightness settings depending on the time of day. This way, when I am in the office, the screen is brighter, whereas, when I am at home in bed in the evening, the screen dims.
So, I created a couple of time triggers in the Default Event to set Brgts levels when certain time occurs.
That works initially, but the brightness values do not stick, they seem to revert to some kind of default very quickly. What am I doing wrong?

Coming from1.2, backup before install. Your DB will be upgraded and will no longer be compatible with 1.2.

Changes since 1.3b1:

- flush key queue after center press in star menu: some reported the press was getting to
underlying app. Wonder if it will help….
- bugfix: star menu called from tag was crashing when item selected in Blazer & Friends
- removed blocking of DA launch in Blazer and friends (some useful DAs don't have UI and
don't crash)
- added warning in UI (once only) about DAs crashing in some apps
- don't handle hard button virtual character (excepting power) as a trigger when no physical
button is pressed. Pro: problem with Hobbyist software onscreen close button is solved. Con: Apt simmed
button presses can't be used to fire Apt button triggers (thanks technical1 for info)
- bugfix: calling popup list or star tag from star menu was sticking until user input sometimes.

Blazer and Friends

There are some apps (most popular are Blazer, Phone) which cause crashes with DAs (that need UI) and popups/starmenus.

In 1.3b1, I have disabled macros in those apps because I can't fix the problem at this point. I think my next plan however is to enable the DAs and put a warning in the UI about Blazer and friends when a DA is selected (because the DAs without UI are useful to some).

In 1.3b1, I thought I had fixed the star/popup thing, but Sporty is reporting problems on the 755. I could get a crash once on the sim (the shadow window thing) but I couldn't reproduce it after that. Can people please let me know if they are getting star/popup crashes with 1.3b1 and Blazer or not, and what their device is ?

Understanding Variables

When using variables to set a trigger doesn't that isolate a button?

Here is what I'm doing, I set the side key on the treo to set the brightness to 255,
next I set an idle trigger to dim it back to 45 after 60 seconds.

What I would like to do is set a variable for the initial trigger a=0

Then set another variable for a second condition of the button a>0
So that if the screen is set to 255 and I press the side button again
I could disable the idle trigger. (Reading a document or web page, etc..)

However with the side key even with a variable set I can't select it again to run another macro.

So I'm guessing the variables are not taken into consideration when writing macros/triggers.
Is that correct?

APT 1.3b1 Bug Reports

I am trying to set the brightness, maybe this has always worked this way.

I set the Default>Prefs>Brightness to 46/ In Events I have 300/Idle/Bright/Rst / In Buttons I have 2/Cntr/Brgt/255

Problem: If I change the brightness in a program and then try to switch to another program it immediately goes back to Brgt=46
Shouldn't it stay at 255 unless it has been idle 300 seconds?

Note: I don't have any brightness settings on a per app basis.

To upgrade from 1.2:

- disable 'Enabled' and 'Enable After Reset' in Apt settings
- exit Apt
- backup your existing AptDB.pdb to minimally 10 locations on at least 5 continents.
- reset device
- install 1.3b1 (don't forget the new AptAssist.prc)

To upgrade from 1.0/1.1:

- install and run 1.2 (to upgrade your DB)
- proceed as above

1.3b1 will upgrade your AptDB to a new version: you CANNOT use Apt 1.2 with the DB once it has been upgraded.

If you are getting problems with Apt disabling itself for no apparent reason,
please try installing…

Time Trigger Times Keep Changing

When I'm trying to set up a time trigger, the value will not stick right away if I exit Apt, for example, and come back. I have to enter the time value, then switch to another pref page in Apt, and go back to the Events page a variable number of times before it will stick. Also, sometimes the Time trigger selection won't stick, but that's usually when I have 2 Time triggers on the same page. If I go to a different page, say Graffiti, then back to the events page, the 2nd Time trigger has been changed to a '&' under the first Time trigger. I hope this is clear enough. :u)

*EDIT* Oops, nevermind. This issue was posted and replied to many times between when I started composing it, and when I actually posted it! :uP

Voicemail Notifications

Pent,

One of the thorns in the flesh of the Treo 755P is there is no adequate way to remind the user they have a voicemail.
If I'm in a meeting and cancel a notification. I will not get another one until I check my voicemail manually.
I would like to watch the voicemail notification monitor, which stays on, and trigger an alarm if it is on every x minutes.

Can APT do this? If So, How do I check the status of the voicemail indicator?
